The Hyperbaric chamber

In the early 1990s, tabloid photographs of pop singer Michael Jackson lying in an unusual glass-encased medical device were published worldwide. There were rumors of a secret anti-aging treatment or intensive oxygen therapy, but in reality the machine was a hyperbaric chamber.

What is a hyperbaric chamber?

Hyperbaric oxygenation is to provide pure oxygen at higher atmospheric pressures, which will be received by the body through the respiratory route, this modality of treatment has become the basic tool for plastic surgeons to handle post-surgical of all kinds of aesthetic procedures for multiple benefits obtained with the method.

What can we expect to get from Hyperbaric Oxygen?

It’s the ideal complement to a surgery, to oxygenate tissues and achieve excellent healing. Because normally we breathe O2  (oxigen)  that is low in content and we can magnify it through the hyperbaric chamber.

Further:

• Improving the quality of the skin for its rejuvenating effect.
• Increased vitality.
• Improves the stress of long working hours.
• Avoid the risk of infection by increasing the body's defenses.
• with oxygen; by 70 to 80% cellulite is improved
• Strengthens the hair follicle to prevent hair loss.
Eliminates muscle fatigue caused by sports overtraining.

So especially for clients that travel to Colombia to have plastic surgery we advise to get some hyperbaric chamber sessions, right after surgery, as it helps heal much faster!
We from Calibelleza also offer to include them in our all inclusive packages.

Here are some extra benefits from hyperbaric oxygen therapy in plastic surgery:

• Rapid elimination of pain, swelling and bruising.
• Avoid the risk of infection by increasing the body's defenses.
• Accelerates the healing of compromised tissue in plastic surgery.
Faster recovery from post-surgical stress.

The hyperbaric chamber is also used in the following non plastic surgery related issues:

- Carbon monixide poisoning.
- Carbon monoxide poisoning complicated by cyanide poisoning;
- Crash injury
- Decompression sickness
- Enhancement of healing
- Diabetically derived illness, such as diabetic foot
- Exceptional blood loss (anemia)
- Skin grafts
- Thermal burns

Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck. When mother nature needs a hand.......

For all those women that had baby’s,
For those that have lost major weight............

We are going to give some information about the tummy tuck!

Plastic Surgery isn't always just about changing yourself or making yourself look better, sometimes it can be just as necessary as helpful at the same time.

When women have babies, their body, especially the abdomen, streches out  an enormous size in a relatively short period. After giving birth, lot’s of women suffer from strech marks. But that is not the only thing. Without these new mama’s knowing, a lot of them also suffer from so called “abdominal muscle hernia’s”. Which we can explain like a fracture in the abdominal muscle that doesn’t heal itself.

Lot’s of new mama’s go to the gym and diet to get their old shape back. Many of them succeed in loosing the pounds and get slimmer, but the only problem area that is very difficult to get back to ‘normal’ again is the abdomen.
How can you get rid of strech marks? Loose skin? And the buldge?

The one and only thing that can help you solve one of the above problems is a tummy tuck!

Abdominoplasty or "tummy tuck" is a cosmetic surgery  procedure used to make the abdomen more firm. The surgery involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen in order to tighten the muscle  and *fascia of the abdominal wall.

*fascia: a structure of connective tissue  that surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels, and nerves, binding some structures together, while permitting others to slide smoothly over each other.

In other words, the plastic surgeon get’s rid of excessive skin, and a lot of strech marks. (depending on how many you have, in some patients they dissapear completely)

But here is the best part!! While the plastic surgeon is getting rid of all that, he can also fix the hernia in the abdominal muscle!!! As it’s standard in Colombia to do so, surgeons we work with are capable to give you an internal corset made out of your own muscles to leave you with a very flat abdomen!!!

This procedure is best done, when the woman that seeks this kind of plastic surgery has no desires to become a mom (again).
This is not because it’s dangerous- some people tend to think or have heard it’s dangerous  to get pregnant after a tummy tuck - but it’s more because once you have done it and you get pregnant again, the hard work of the surgeon (and you ofcourse ,the patient ) can get lost.
However this is not in all the cases true. We know women personally who have gotten preggo’s just after a tummy tuck and have achieved to regain their abdomen just like after surgery.
We from Calibelleza say “better safe, then sorry”- so just wait till you’re done having kids is the best way to go

Not only women benefit from this procedure: in some cases also men!!

When there is a lot of weightloss in a short period of time, think of gastric bypasses and so on, people get stuck with a lot of loose hanging skin. This can be very heavy on those people not just in aestetic form but also physical. For those people a tummy tuck can  really lift a lot of weight of their shoulders.

There are different kinds of abdominoplasty’s/tummy tuck’s. The most common are;

Complete abdominoplasty

In general, a complete (or full) abdominoplasty follows these steps:
-An incision is made from hip to hip just above the pubic area.
-Another incision is made to free the navel from the surrounding skin.
-The skin is detached from the abdominal wall to reveal the muscles and fascia to be tightened. The muscle fascia wall is tightened with sutures.
-Liposuction is often used to refine the transition zones of the abdominal sculpture.
-A dressing and a compression garment are applied and any excess fluid  from the site is drained.

Partial abdominoplasty

-A partial (or mini) abdominoplasty proceeds as follows:
-A smaller incision is made.
-The skin and fat of the lower abdomen are detached in a more limited fashion from the muscle fascia. The skin is stretched down and excess skin removed.
-Sometimes the belly button stalk is divided from the muscle below and the belly button slid down lower on the abdominal wall.
-Sometimes a portion of the abdominal muscle fascia wall is tightened.
-Liposuction is often used to contour the transition zone.
-The flap is stitched back into place.

Extended abdominoplasty

An extended abdominoplasty is a complete abdominoplasty PLUS a lateral thigh lift. The resulting scar runs from the posterior axillary line (when placing your open hands on your hips, the thumbs lie along the posterior axillary line.) The operation does all of the abdominal contouring of a complete abdominoplasty and allows further improvement of the flank (waist), as well as smoothing the contour of the upper lateral thigh.

Circumferential abdominoplasty

A circumferential abdominoplasty is an extended abdominoplasty PLUS a buttock lift. The resulting scar runs all the way around the body, and the operation is also called a Belt Lipectomy or Body Lift. This operation is most appropriate for patients who have undergone massive weight loss.

Combination procedures

An abdominoplasty is a component of a lower body lift and can be combined with liposuction contouring, breast reduction ,breast lift , or with a brazillian buttlift.A popular name for breast enhancement procedures performed in conjunction with an abdominoplasty is a "mommy makeover".

Recovery

Depends on the problem to be treated, surgical technique(s), and other factors.
-Can take 2 to 4 weeks and patients are advised to take at least a portion of this recovery time off from work.
-Heavy activity especially is best avoided during this time.
-Initially there may be bruising and discomfort.
-A supportive abdominal binder or compression garment can minimize swelling / bruising, and support the repaired tissues. This compression garment is also effective in helping the skin in the treated area conform to its new shape.
-Patients are advised to avoid all forms of nicotine for a month or longer prior to surgery and also during the recovery period.
-Full recovery takes 3–6 months, with further fading of scars thereafter. Scars may appear red and prominent at first, but with proper care, they heal into a thin, silvery line.

Rhinoplasty

This months topic: Rhinoplasty: Not always is plastic surgery just for changing the way one looks- often there are also underlying problems that can be solved like; snorring and breathing problems which lead to fatigue, headaches and so on.
                                                                  Basics
Rhinoplasty a is surgery that is done for aesthetic purposes  (the patient wish to modify the appearance of his/her nose) and / or functional goals as it may be of poor quality and to improve the breathing of the patient.

Rhinoplasty usually includes, among other things:
-reducing of the bone protruding from the nose,
-reduce or correct the deviated septum, removing hereditary or congenital malformations that make breathing difficult.

Rhinoplasty is performed in an operating room, local or general anesthesia is used, but usually general anesthesia is preferred because it is less traumatic for the patient.

Before rhinoplasty, it is important to be well informed and see if you have the right profile for surgery.
                                                           About the procedure
In most cases our doctor will work under the skin, directly over the bones of the nose and the nasal cartilage. Therefor he will not leave visible traces in the nose, so that after surgery, the nose will have it's  best and most natural look.
If it's an open rhinoplasty, the doctor will separate the skin from the bone and cartilage to work more easily and directly on the bones and cartilage of the nose. In this case, it will be an almost imperceptible scar columella (column separates the nostrils at the bottom).
If it is a closed rhinoplasty, the procedure on the bones of the nose but through the nostrils. In this case, there will be no outward sign or visible scar.

Duration of a nose job or Rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty usually takes between 1 and 4 hours (depending on the complexity of the case). When the operation must also solve other disorders, surgery time can be extended.

Risks of rhinoplasty include: Bruising, bleeding, prolonged inflammation, adverse to anesthesia, infection and nasal obstruction among other reactions can occur. The benefits of rhinoplasty: better breathing and a new nose more suited to the characteristics and tastes of the patient.
This month we are paying extra atention to Rhinoplasty and have promo's on them.
If you are having difficulties with breathing or just want to reshape your nose, then please contact us on info@calibelleza.com and check our website: www.calibelleza.com

Buttocks Augmentation

Some want them bigger, some fuller and others want them more lifted! For both men and women in South-America perhaps the most important body part.

We are going to talk about the buttocks!!

In both women and men one of the most sought out surgeries. I'll be explaining a little bit more about various interventions and techniques to enhance the buttocks.

1. The most common, simple- but most natural procedure: =
The brazilian butt lift ie fattransfer / fatgrafting.  A relatively simple procedure. The buttocks are injected with your own bodyfat obtained from liposuction / liposculpture, so one gets a rounder, fuller and younger looking buttocks. Huge differences are not achieved by this technique, especially if the patient in question has little to no fat or has a very flat buttocks. A portion of this fat is reabsorbed again -about a + / - 30%. The result is very beautiful and very natural, and certainly not least is that the recovery period is not heavy or-too long. Do you have a bit of a buttocks, but want to make them a bit fuller, rounder or just stand out more? Then this technique is very suitable for you!

2. Countouring + Fatgrafting: This is everything done as described above PLUS a liposculpture done around the buttocks so that the surgeon if it were to sculpt your buttocks rounder and fill it with your own fat. Think about the area just under the creases, right above the buttocks to achieve the arch and sometimes around the hips to make them look less broad and more voluptuous

3. Buttock implants: Through the use of special cohesive oval implants one can achieve a spectacular change in the looks of the buttocks. This procedure is a bit heavier and the recovery period is much longer. Because there is much more risk of infection with buttock implants, we of Calibelleza make sure you get taken care of 24 hours a day to avoid infection as much as possible and to pursue a speedy recovery. The results of this procedure are permanent,in other words unlike fat that tends to absorb a bit, implants stay the size they're are. In Colombia implants are often done with minor fatgrafting to achieve more natural looking results. Are you very flat from behind and with little to no bodyfat? Then this is the perfect solution for you! -This procedure is also suitable for transgenders / transsexuals who want to achieve a more feminine figure!

4. A thigh and buttock lift: The buttock and thigh lift is recommended in most cases where there has been a rapid weight loss. (gastric bypass, etc) And as a result has a lot of sagging of the skin in that area. By pulling up the skin in the area of the thighs and buttocks, and while excess fat which is removed, the surgeon can provide more smoothness to the skin while the thighs are lifted up again. This is to improve the contours of the body. This procedure is also done along with a tummy tuck and fatgrafting / fattransfer and the results are sublime! ALL OF THE ABOVE TECHNIQUES ARE SUITABLE FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN.

Finally, we want to warn you again for so-called biogel / pmm / silicone / hyalorunic acids shots etc etc. These so-called buttock augmentations with unknown or "known" substances are illegal and dangerous!! People have already deceased. EVEN after long term (10years) these substances at some point are going to infect and/ or rot. With all its consequences! There are cases where whole amputations of legs and buttocks are made and in the worst cases, death of the patient. There are no registered plastic surgeons who perform this treatment. People often go to beauty specialists, veterinarians etc. posing as a doctor and offering this kind of treatment. Unfortunately there is nothing on the market that has been approved yet. So we recommend one of the above four safe options. You only have one body and life so be careful with it! Be safe and if it sounds too good to be true then it usually is. We do not offer this so called buttock augmentations with unknown substances (often silicone gel)! However we can help, if you have had injections in the past and need to have the substance removed. Are you interested in one of the four discussed safe options for buttock augmentation? Then start a virtual consult! This consultation is free and without any obligations.
